Our Purpose
Plant Trust (the Garden Plant Conservation Association of Australia Inc.) exists to protect the diversity of garden plants in Australia.
It does this by supporting the identification, cataloguing and registration of significant plant collections held across the country, recognising their value to conservation, education, and the long‑term survival and preservation of Australia’s richly varied garden plants.
Australia’s diverse range of climates and soils place it in a unique position to contribute to global garden plant conservation. Plant Trust supports this work by sharing plant knowledge and creating opportunities for learning through garden visits, guided tours, rare plant auctions, and its quarterly member publication, Genus.
Established in 1986, Plant Trust is celebrating 40 years in 2026.
Plant Trust acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work and learn and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
